Cakes are a form of food that are usually sweet and often baked. Cakes normally combine some kind of flour, a sweetening agent (usually sugar), a binding agent (eggs), fats (butter, oil), liquid (water, milk), flavors and occasionally some form of leavening agent (baking powder, sodium bicarbonate). Cakes are traditionally frosted with butter cream or marzipan although modern variations may call for a more exquisite frostings such as ganache, creams or even meringues.
